Reviews for "Cookie Tycoon"

A full review

As far as the gameplay goes, I would add a selection of music for the users preference. Also the sfx didn't seem to work. In the ingredients menu I want a x1000 option.

Heres a short guide, hope the author doesn't mind.

Potential ability matters for all workers, but special abilities should be exploited for the cooks. What got me through the start was simply hiring good or average potential employees and then raising their pay when they get better skills always keeping the higher skilled ones with a better pay. Later I got more than 2 cooks and later than that I got more assistants. Don't raise their pay too much as long as the higher skilled ones are better paid (in their role) then they are good. You don't need to pay the higher skilled security guards more than the cooks for example

I made sure to raise the prices to at least 3x to start and as I upgraded the shop I raised them to 4x and raised them a little every day as long as they were selling. A tip for shop upgrades, don't keep buying new stuff too much until the final 10k renovations. I only had a carpet and 1 plant before I got the 5k renovations. Remember exploiting special abilities? Well it isn't just about the rare pastry but the large ones in general. They cost about 30-50 to make and I charged several hundred for them to start, later to several thousand. I only needed a volume or 5-8 to make all the profit I needed. That is another thing, Check what sold so you don't make more of something that doesn't sell and so that you can increase the price of stuff that does sell. Sometimes rotate the pastries so you have variety of pastry. Don't use all the pastry that one chef does because it overworks them.

Hiring later in the game I went for the lower skilled ones with good ability because all the others demanded a pay more than I payed my current highest skilled employees.

And the reason I even played this more than 5 minutes was the varying prices of the ingredients. You have to figure out for yourself the minimums and highs of the prices but all ingredients have 2x from low to high and some more than 3x. This made me the most profit out of anything (even compared to charging thousands for cakes) after I had the final renovations. One day you buy them all at a low price and 2 or 3 days later they sell for much more. This part should be made harder and more unpredictable because it was like clockwork.

Overall a good game and nice graphics. I would have liked more interaction or being able to create new cakes myself. You should also look into naming the cakes. Most of them were undefined.
