Reviews for "Blind Swordsman"

sweet

dude this game kicks ass. it gets harder eventually, but whats a good game without a good difficulty level? good job dude. full 10, and a 5.

DannyP responds:

Yeah, more ninjas start coming in over time, and they get a bit faster every time you kill them :P Well, glad you liked my game, and thanks for reviewing.

you rock

man its hard but i got the 3rd ending....what score do you have to get to get the best?

DannyP responds:

You'll need over 80 kills to get the best ending. Glad you liked my game, and good luck!

Nice trick

For those of you that have trouble beating the game, I suggest you just block the whole time in order to win the game once. There will be a helpful clue for you if you did bad. It makes it much easier once you figure out this trick.

DannyP responds:

Well, if you do really bad it gives you a useless fortune at the end, and if you do fairly bad it says "Weakling!" You have to do good, but not exceptional to learn of this hidden technique :P
Well, glad you liked my game; thanks for playing.

my problems

i really do like the game. i do
but with what the guy below me says about the attacking offscreen.
plus if you get surrounded, it's pretty much game over. two swordsmen could hack you to pieces in a couple of seconds.
you said you couldn't think of any special abilities, what about an ability to push surrounding enemies back a bit in all directions?

one last thing, if you hold down spacebar and get attacked by multiple enemies, not only are you not able to get away, but it still uses up your stamina. the stamina should probably only go down if your actually moving while pressing the space bar.

but again, i really did like the game. i've been playing it for awhile now

DannyP responds:

If you get surrounded, I guess it depends on your life and stamina. If you have enough of those, you could try to escape... Otherwise, I guess you're screwed, but who wouldn't be? I wouldn't expect a blind swordsman to be able to take on 9 ninjas all at once.

An ability to push them back... That's a very good idea, actually. I've already counted this as a completed game, though... and I generally don't modify my finished projects unless it's something very important. In this case, I've been able to beat the game with a score of over 400, so anyone else should be able to do the same with a bit of practice.
It's okay to die in a 99 second game... I think people would get bored of it too quickly if some special abilities let them beat it on the first or second try :P

I'll remember these suggestions for future projects, though. This game turned out quite well, and it seems like a lot of people liked it, so I might do something similar someday.

attacked offscreen

being hit by the offscreen attacks was kind of annoying i think the enemies should show up on the screen before they attack you

DannyP responds:

Well, you just have to step back a bit to lure them out. I was originally going to have them show themselves first, but I found that leaving them off-screen added to the challenge.
