Reviews for "Restaurant___"

Well...

I see you're making music directly to the flash animators :) And that's really good. As for this track - it's almost perfect. Just like somebody here already said - close you're eyes and you feel like in restaurant. Hope to se more ambient-based music ;) for example maybe "Shop__" ;).

hehe

i closed my eyes and i was almost sitting in the restaurant:P
;ped

Environment Modelling is perfect

Well done again. I used to play the piano at a piano bar in Edinburgh, and I'm pretty sure if I were to take an MD recorder (tape recorders are sooo passe) and record for the night, it would sound exactly like this. Minus the snare edge, ride cymbal and bass.

I particularly enjoyed how you managed to layer the vocals to give an impression of an enclosed space with hard walls...did you use an environment/reverb modeller like Lexicon Pantheon or anything for this? Anyway, it appears you have a great talent for mixing tracks together. Me likey.

JohnFloyd responds:

Thanks for all the comments! I used to play a little jazz piano myself, although not in a bar, that sounds like fun (especially over there... here in the US our bars are boring :P ).

I use Reason, so reverb is all about throwing the ol' RV7000 into the rack and tweaking it until you have the sound you're looking for. Oh, and a little EQ on top of that helps too, I tried to figure out which frequencies would carry best in a restaurant, in the end I just guessed and it came out okay.

wow

Your tracks are all truely kick-ass. I 5'd them all, and they all deserve it. My only problem with this one is that there are no female voices... I think if you're going to have a crowded restaurant, you need some female voices in there. Even so, the fact didn't occur to me until the second time through, so it's not blatantly obvious.
Musically, the piano is very well-recorded; very professional-sounding. The style is of course nothing new, but still well-done.
I look forward to hearing more from you.

JohnFloyd responds:

Sadly, one of the skills in which I am seriously lacking is being able to speak in a female-sounding voice. This wasn't really a problem until recently, when all of the sudden I had to pretend to be an entire restaurant, all by myself... Anyway, thanks for the comment!

How pleasant!

what a pleasent change from Insane Asylum X_x, heh its strange to have such opposite spectrums in the same place.

I don't know if you created this, because it sounds so god damn convincing, I listened to it like 10 times to try and listen if there were any repeated comments in the background, to indicate a loop, and I was able to find nothing.

I don't know what to say about it, heh, its EXACTLY what I would hear at a crowded restaurant, and thats why I was confused if it was a recording X_x.

I'm going to go on my instinct that you created it, and so i'm giving you a 5/5 because it was so god damn convincing!

JohnFloyd responds:

Thanks for the comments, MS! All my audio is 100% original. Although, the dialogue here is me reading excerpts from a number of movie scripts, and I did not write the movies. I worked really, really hard to get this sounding as slick as it does.
