Reviews for "Icescape"

Brilliant but sometimes confusing

I love point and click escape games, so major kudos for this one, as it's one of the better ones I've seen in a while just one problem....

Certain rooms are confusing. The bit with the radio for instance, or the generator. I got the fusebox working and still couldn't get the genny going. Was driving me bonkers. Very pretty though, and well made.

Psionic3D responds:

Thanks for your comments, will take em on board for the sequel ;-)

Pretty good...

I did get stuck in the computer room, and like others I noticed that the dial on the safe was very sensitive; maybe lower the range of numbers on the safe dial to give the player a little more leeway? Other than that, I think it was pretty interesting.

Psionic3D responds:

move the mouse pointer further away from the dial, its more accurate then!!

Really good.

I made it through the game in one go actually, believe it or not I did not find the heat meter to be at all too distracting. But again I did manage to complete it in one run so of course I wouldn't.

I felt the tasks were straight forward and made sense. Point and click games are usually based on clicking everything till you get some results. Which is mostly true for this. Puzzles were easy enough the only one I had a hard time with was the safe and the other one where you connect the wires. The wire one was a challenge that I enjoyed and the safe was a challenge I did not enjoy in the least. It was terribly frustrating.

I don't consider myself very good at these sorts of games but maybe I should because reading these reviews apparently a lot of people had trouble. As for myself I really enjoyed it from start to finish thank you for this. FYI to the people who are the most upset with this game. Its free, you played a very good game for no charge. Be happy.

Psionic3D responds:

Move the cursor further away from the safe dial, its much more accurate then ;-)

Some good points, Thanks!!

Refreshing Point and Click Adventure

Icescape is a unique Point & Click game, in that it not only wants the player to scour the environment for items and think logically about how to use them, but also forces the player to think quickly. The body temperature "timer" is an interesting touch, and although it does get annoying, it at least adds an element of uniqueness. The puzzles are not too tough (although the safe did give me fits the first couple times I tried it) but not too easy (unless you've played through them before), and the graphics are pretty good, although they are limited by a lack of movement. In addition, like most point & click games, it is too short, although it does have some limited replay value. I know there's a sequel, so I'm definitely going to check it out, and hopefully it improves upon the few missteps that Icescape has.
