Reviews for "A Canvas And A Struggle"

Very Good, But One Question Remains.

This was a very well made animation. But I have a question for all the artists out there, how far is the art world going to go before you realize that alot of the things your putting into the museums ISN'T ART? I heard that, in a museum, they have a picture of that armless statue (I forget the name) in a jar full of piss, and they call it art. That isn't art, its a cry of help to all the real artists out there! Sorry for the rant but I had to get it out. If you want you could send it to someone and maybe the message will get out.

Brilliantly simple

A picture tells a thousand words.
this movie tells a billion.
the amount of feeling and emotion that can be found in this film
is absolutely phenomenal,
and yet the message is so simple and true. whilst staying strong.
thank you very much =D

Wow, in a good way.

Great flash video. You capture the frustrations and angst of an artist in a very vivid and ultimately beautiful way. Having a dad who is an artist himself I know the struggles first hand after witnessing them throughout my life. Good work and keep submitting.

Artsy

This movie really makes you think what art really is? Does it needs such sacrifice as shown in your movie, or it comes with few fancy lines drawn with pencil?

It's really hard to say and it depends on the artist and the person, who later watches your work.

Anyway, animation and drawings were perfectly balanced, and with geniously choosen music it created very heavy, old-time dusty atmosphere. Character outlines are thick, and you added weight by drawing such dark shadows.

However the thing i didn't like was moment of the suicide/sacrifice. You could put more heart into it, since 'twas the climax of this movie.

5/5

Interesting

I have a friend who is majoring in art, and we've had a couple conversations regarding "modern art" (for which neither of us has a very high level of respect, though neither of us deny that it is art). The visuals are nice, the concept is excellent, the audio is good, but overall it felt like it was... lacking something, I'm not sure what. Either way, I definitely liked it.
