Reviews for "Spectrum Dancer"

more variety

Good idea, but the pattern is too easy to figure out and get around for an infinite score, pending your patience. Maybe have the colors' patterns either be more randomized or at least more complex.

cinderfoot responds:

Haha, someone figured it out. That's good, because I have some reviewers who are finding it nigh on impossible to get a very high score. I'll certianly adapt for it in the sequel. I'd be happy to have my highscore beaten on Flashninjaclan.com though, it's 77 but I feel it unfair to have the developer with the top score. Also: while the pattern does generally stay the same, the blue rectangle poses a danger as it doesn't follow a similar mathematical ratio as the others do to one another, so it can jump out at you unexpectedly.

Very challenging

It took a while to figure out what was going on, but it was pretty amusing. My main beef is that when you get killed you have to go back to the menu and hear that "spectrum dancer!" clip over and over again. God that was annoying. Next time please put in a "replay" or "try again" option straight from the game over screen.

And maybe make things a little easier?

cinderfoot responds:

Yeah, I think I'll do that. Sorry about that! As for challenging, I think that's half the fun. To be fair, I had an easier version with a different model of the orange square, but it was buggy so I changed it. The new model definitley amps up the difficulty. On the highscore version I got 77, so you need to think up some strategies to help you. A hint is to go clockwise around the edge of the screen because then you can mainly be gray and then switch to red when it comes around and ever so rarely to blue, but orange won't be a problem if you do that. I'm really glad you mostly liked it, though. Again, I'm really sorry about the main screen thing though! I hope it doesn't deter you from continued play!

super awesome

that was fun!
great job!
although I haven't heard the audio yet :P
(I'm not supposed to have the sound turned on)

cinderfoot responds:

Thanks! Apparently from the review above you it's nothing wonderful, so don't worry about it.

huh?

im sorry im sure its a cool game...but i still did not understand it. even with the instructions if ya let me know exactly how to play it il try it again ..
check out my music
emc

cinderfoot responds:

Ah. It's pretty basic, I just tried too hard on the instructions. You just press A to turn red, S to turn gray, D to turn orange and F to turn blue. You then avoid any rectangles NOT that color. You can change on the fly to go through a color you might be about to get hit by. You move using the arrow keys. Sorry if there were too many paragraphs in the in-game instructions. I'll be sure to check out your music. I'll send this in a PM so you have a chance to experience the game before judgement.

decent

I wasnt exactly jumping for joy with the music. The concept was pretty cool though. I liked the game but maybe make time limits with some chance of winning and also the color schemes were a little odd to figure out for a quick second there as to what avoided what

cinderfoot responds:

Well, I think I'm going to do a second with levels. Right now it's unlimited time so that anyone with a good skill can submit their score on Flashninjaclan.com.
