Not a reflection of reality
In terms of the actual game, it would've been nice to have an option to skip the dialog or the cut scenes because some of them are long. I know a lot of decision-based adventure games don't have this either, but it would be convient to be able to replay from your point of failure rather than to go through the entire game again.
Now in relation to real-life wooing, I'd say some of the strategies used may vary on sucess based on person to person. Some of the right decisions were down right weird, like the pulling on the ear one. However, I do like how the main game plan used throughout appears to be a quasi-player/nice guy approach where you have manners and remain humourous. Unfortunately, once you realize the game recognizes that strategy as the right outcomes, it is easy to predict which answer to pick - My first time through I got all but two of the decisions right.
For the guys out there, most of the decisions here make sense but I wouldn't use them as a bible to picking up girls.
