Reviews for "Gun Creator"

Excellent start

I actually signed up just to write this review. To start, this game is excellent. As a gun nut, the weapns are well drawn (traced?) and mesh together quite well. It's an excellent start, and I have a few suggestions for the next version, if there is one. I'm not as much of an advocate for the really complex things like a shooting gallery, at least not yet, instead I'd prefer a few more basic things that would be easier to implement.

- A larger construction area. I'm not sure if it'll be possible if NewGrounds has a size restriction, but if there was a larger blank area to fit more frankenguns into, I think it would help a lot. I end up spilling into other areas and the background sort of messes with things, and props get in the way.
-Prop modifiers. If there was an option to rotate (90 degrees), reverse and invert the props, that might expand creativity a bit, and if you aren't able to include more drawing space, being able to stagger the direction the guns face would be helpful.
-More prop variety. I'd prefer this over a shooting gallery any day! While this initial batch of guns works well for the time being, I quickly run out of stuff to do. If there were more weapons and accessories available, I think that would expand playability also. Again, I think this is more important than being able to shoot the guns, but that's just me.
-More than one prop of it's kind. I'd like to be able to have more than one barrel for a specific type of gun, or more than one folding vertical handgrip, for instance. It'd be niofty to me if there were unlimited "amounts" of each prop, that could somehow be spawned whenever needed. I find I need more of the long sound-suppressors than are available!

I'm not a flash guy, so I don't know much about the technical aspects, but I think that if you had a number of dropdown menus, say one for firearm receivers, one for handgrips, one for buttstocks, one for fore-grips, one for magazines and one for accessories (scopes, handgrips, flashlights, lasers, bayonets!). That way, there'd be less clutter (more room for construction) and the option to spawn as many parts as one desires.

So those are my suggestions if there will ever be a sequel to this particular game. It's a great one now, and I've killed days messing around with it, and I think it could be epic if you included a few more simpleish options. Thanks for making!

A second one is in the works, it has better graphics and currently 12 guns but will, hopefully have 30 before it is released. If anyone has any guns they would like to be in the second one just drop me a comment

cool

nice game of distruction

simple suggestion

add a clip that goes above the gun and add sten gun parts, and some pistol parts like a mauser. Oh and so that you can choose your song. Shooting range would be neat but I mean it is essentially a dressup style game. just add more parts a a song selection really and I would be happy and maybe even a different background or a choice of background

Cool.

It was pretty cool but once you assembled your gun what are you supposed to do?

Perhaps you could test fire it?

Maybe go so far as to create target (both moving and stationary) to shoot at?

Now obviously if you did this you would have to restrict the places you could place the individual parts but I thing it would be worth it.

You could even create a little game inside of your game :)

It was good for what it was, hope you take some of my suggestions though. Good luck with your next submission :)

globalwarming responds:

Those are good ideas but I wouldn't know where to start with that. If you have any ideas on how to do that I would love the input. Thanks

Almost worth it.

It's a cool idea, really, but its not complete. The stuff just floating around doesn't give those without knowledge of th eanatomy of a firearm any help. maybe a snaptogether system where pieces lock in place together would be better.
