Reviews for "Fish That Should Not Be"

This game is excellent.

I have been playing it for about 2 hours, and I think that you did a marvelous job on it. I did find a bug though: When you rest at the tavern, the fish trader says that the fish of the day are undefined.
Good job with everything.
I suggest more upgrades, and making it a bit harder.

PaavoPaavonen responds:

how could I have missed that bug?
I find it bit too easy myself, but i see that there are lots of people who are saying its too hard...

good game

that was a pretty good game. the graphics in this one were great, good gameplay and concept to it and it was fun to play. when you said it was complex... that was a mjoar understatement. it did take me a while to figure it out, but even when i did, this game was still very challenging. perhaps a difficulty setting to this one would help out some people beat this game or at this least, progress in it.
overall, it was a fun game and i enjoyed it.

This is just too hard

I'm really sorry, but this was just too difficult for me. Could you make the fish easier to catch? Or failing at that, could there be like a "beginners pond" somewhere in the game for us people who are having a hard time? I've played this for 45 mintues, still havent caught 1 fish!

Good fishing game, but needs tweaking.

The game is built well, but has an extreme disadvantage towards the player. The game ends up being boring because its too difficult to progress, leaving the player restless with the game. You made it too tough on your players with fish being too infrequent to catch. I realize you wanted to make this challenging, but it can't be a challenge if we are still waiting to catch something! Even real fishing is NOT this hard!

1. Strikes are few and far apart. Your player spends way too much time trying to figure out how to maybe attract a fish on their line instead of playing the game. This is a part you did not explain or hint very well at. This leads to extreme boredom because, they can NOT progress without catching a fish. Becuase they have no other options that can help them progress further, it leaves the player at a frustrating stand still. I read all of your help 3 times, and I put the appropriate bait on it. I still spend hours getting mostly nothing. I have tried over and over again different ways of maybe at least striking a fish and I still have been unable to get the hang of it. The learning curve for this game is too high. Make fish catching more frequent, so we, as players, can practice our fish catching skills more and move on in the game.

2. When strikes do occur, they are way too easy to screw up. Pushing all of these letters are a pain in the ass and requires too much multi-tasking while trying to reel in the fish with the mouse. You got to jump from the mouse to the keyboard, to the keyboard to the mouse. Making sure the line doesnt break, making sure you press the correct letters in time, making sure you are continually reeling the fish in. Its way too many things going on at once. I am not a button mashing video gamer. So it is hard for me to multitask so quickly.

3. I don't see the stats helping me out that much. Im not even sure if they help at all. Maybe they help more later in the game, but in the beginning they really don't help much to me.

4. I hate it when the fish bite off my lure. I have lost all my lure in a game due to that and I am not sure how to prevent that. You should have talked about that in your guide or talked about it MORE.

5. I noticed its way harder to catch fish at night than the daytime. And I also notice a cloud that frequently goes by. Is that just to make it harder for you to reel in fish? Or is that a sign for the player on when to cast my line out?

What is good about this game?

1. Lots of options, but not too many. Just enough options for you.

2. I like how you can discover different fish and travel to different spots.

3. I like the story line. But since Ive been playing for hours and still have not successfully caught 1 fish. I may never get to see the rest of the storyline at this rate. I pray the game will get EASIER once I start catching fish, upping my stats and making money. If we have no chances to catch our fish, how are we suppose to practice how to catch them and get better at the game so we can master it??

Think about that.

Im not asking to make it easier, Im just asking to up the rate that fish will bite the line so we can "attempt" to catch something more frequently. Especially when I have spent extra money on the spiders and flies to hope striking a fish will be more probable. Other than that, decent game.

PaavoPaavonen responds:

thanks for the big review.
I noticed some people had proplems to even start with the game, maybe it's not clear enough that you need to reel all the time or the fish won't bite at all. But when you catch your first fish then it will be much easier, trust me.

I loved it.

It had a good RPG style to it, ajnd had fishing, which I may add, was pretty hard, but fun anyway.
