Try a bit better humor next time.
Even more violence, like beating Luigi bloody or beating peach and taking her would've been a bit more entertaining.
also, make it bigger.
Making it smaller and more compact wont hide the fact that you're using sprites...
Some sprite movies are awesome, but it's getting a bit old. To overcome the bad association you have to do something really interesting...

Reminds me sooo much of the Bugs Bunny cartoons. Which were and still are awesome.
Other than that, I found it very sweet that Mario would basically do anything to win the Princess' heart. Even if he had to go to the extent of bashing up his own brother. One thing that I was a bit iffy with was the fact that it was too small and hard to see what gifts they had next, and it moved a bit too quickly. But other than that, I give it a 5 =)
