Reviews for "Etude #5 - Moonlight"

Just wow

-This was played beautifully. The notes flowed so well together and i'm still not sure as to how you were able to get the different notes to connect so well together. Anyhow this is very pleasing to the ear and I can listen to it over and over again and still like it as much as the first time.

-I'm all in favor that you slowed it down since it sounds so good at the pace that you used here. If you would of done it faster some of the notes would of overlapped a little and sounded a bit wierd.

-Overall it's one of my favorite audio portal songs that i've come across. There is so much imagery that comes up when listening to it.

Hey thanks I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for reviewing it. This is one of my favoreites, and I'm working on a longer version.

Really nice composition.

I'm studying classical guitar myself so it's nice to hear some classical guitar on here! This composition is really nice, it has an excellent melody.

You're technique is very good too, you are quite expressive with this piece. The emphasis is all on the top line of the melody and the notes that fill out the arpeggio are nice and soft while the bass is not overpowering. Good, sturdy right hand (or left hand if you're left handed... Picking hand!). Good dynamics and slight rubato also! A couple of the notes in some of the faster runs were a little choked but there were a lot of notes and a bit of a jump for the left hand (fret hand!) so I'm being super critical here. I'm not sure I could play that fast!

Your mic is picking up a lot of attack from your picking hand, I think that you could take the mic away from this area so there's less attack. I'd bring the mic away from the strings/sound hole and point it somewhere near where the body joins the neck. You want to avoid excess attack and string squeak.

Really nice piece though,I really enjoyed it. You've inspired me to try creating my own classical song!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I do need to work on mic placement, I just don't know anything about recording, so if you have any links I'd love to have them.

Thanks for reviewing, and send me a link once you get some classical guitar recorded!

Perfect!

Wow, what a great tune this is. From the melody to the performance to the recording and mixing and all those other details, this is quite the piece. Images of castles and all that Oblivion type imagery go well with this song, in fact this could probably do a really good job of serving as background music for a fantasy-type RPG.

As mentioned, the performance is great. I love clean and well sounded the playing is, how there wasn't any of that string buzz crap going on and how it generally worked the whole time. Like how the bass notes never interfered with the main melody and were played in perfect time and sync, I loved that.

And I also love how it didn't sound too muddy or sharp and how there was ambience present in the overall song, and how the sounds you make when you slide down the neck got in there. Makes a great feel overall.

Anyway, t'was a good song, 5/5 10/10

Thank you! I'm glad you liked my song! One thing I like to keep in mind with my pieces is that the classical guitar can do things other instruments cant, such as sliding. I also saw a castle, but I thought it was just me. Now that three people see one I don't feel so weird lol.

The original title was something along the lines of "Moonlite Castle", but I changed it to "Moonlight".

Thanks for the review and kind words, I appreciate it!

Wow, well deserved 10

shit man!! what the hell is up with the score??

This was a beautiful song, the thing about it is that it is so ominous. I could listen for hours and just get lost in my own celtic castle with grapes and servants, oh! and there would be the towns peopl-

see?! I didn't notice I was getting lost in thought xD

Congratz you made my song of the week (see my page) = DL, 5, and 10
this song is heavily under-appreciated

Sonzai ^_^
ps: if you want it to stay top 'o the week, then reply! >;(

Darkmaster603 responds:

Wow, I'm glad you liked it so much, and I'm honored to be on your top list :). This piece is actually called "Moonlight" but for the sake of my series it's just Etude #5

Thanks for reviewing, it means a lot.
