The shadows on those soldiers are... How should I put it? Odd?
Perhaps using some dithering techniques would help, but the whole artstyle relies on not using dithering.

I tried it with regular black shadows but it looked too black and then I tried to erase the shadows completely and that didnt look right either

I think i should try filling them in with a dark gray
