You got that 10 I was talking about :P

Yep, another good improvement to the previous version. Some of the best Classical stuff I've heard on NG, keep it up.

There weren't many new melodies from the original, just the ones at the end, but they were great new additions. Wish I saw more flute ambience though. Instruments, as I said before, had excellent quality, with the oboe souding the best from all of them.

The transitions on the whole were great. The only transition which felt a little abrupt was the one at around 1:57. Firstly, the flute was just slightly too quiet, and it was a sudden transition from loud to soft, and secondly, instead of just ending the strings like that, you should play one long note with the strings and then simply fade that note away while the flute is playing the ambience. I liked the slight drum build-up after, though. The ending you did here is almost perfect. I think you should continue the song a little more with the oboe and strings, and maybe add the bassoon later on, and then you end it as you did now, since it is quite abrupt as it is right now. Sorry for the long paragraph. D:

The orchestral drums are quite well done for a first try. I think you should give them more importance though, since it's very hard to hear them as they are now, and you can really achieve some epic-sounding percussion out of orchestral drums when their volume is quite high. Good job with the snare rolls. Practically, my only complaint is that they're too quiet.

Has a few defects here and there, but the fact that it's one of the best classical pieces I've heard on NG in a big while, you'll get a 10/10 from me. Good job, keep up the great work!

Hey, thanks man!

I do want to note that there's no oboe, there's a clarinet, and a bassoon though.

I know the song's probably not actually done, but I'm calling it that way. Because I know that I could probably spend hours and hours and hours on this piece without ever finishing it and moving on to new stuff. So I've got to call it done.

The percussion levels are going to be a little off no matter what I do, due to how they were routed within the software.

Glad you liked the ending, I thought it might be a little cliche.

Overall I'm glad you liked it, and I'll be sure to let you know about my next work.

Oompapa~

I'm loving this song! It has a light and fluffy feel to it that makes me think of some sort of background track to a older Final Fantasy game!
The drums that started at 2:01 I think were a nice touch because I feel it gave a nice break from the more repetitive beats from them. I also loved the part at 1:29. It was kind of unexpected (to me at least) and despite it being short it was sweet.

Transition at 1:00 was great! I thought it was nice that you could only hear a few things going on and then it started to build up into more of a layered piece. I think it was interesting listening to what was going on around in there.

Love the ending! Not cliche at all actually. It was simple and effective and I think it was really nice to just end it instead of making a huge finale that droned on and got everyone bored! It made it so the listener knew the song was going to end and they don't have to skip the rest of the song because it is short and isn't going to make them wait.

Just too bad it's so short! C=> I would love to see it have been longer. I think if this was built on much more it would be even better! Not saying it wasn't in the first place, but you get what I mean!

Hey, thanks for the review.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'm pretty proud of this piece overall. I have definitely learned a lot over the course of producing it.

Length is something I'm working on, for sure. I'm hoping to get into a reasonable length with my next piece.

Woah

Well that's different :D Good to hear some classical music with all this new techno buzz floating around "lol". No but seriously well composed and most importantly pleasant to listen to! AND it doesn't get booring! Amazing work man!

Thanks for the review man. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Well-developed

I'm seriously liking this one. I loved the way that the song developed, and really appreciate the fact that you reduced repetitiveness to a minimum, bringing it close, if not together, with actual classical orchestral compositions (in my opinion, that is).

This has, however, also resulted in a sort of down-side- namely the fact that sometimes it seems as though notes were just randomly tossed on upon another in order of creating more versatility (unless this was your intention, or I'm actually imagining things :P), but this isn't necessarily a bad thing, could just be something that feels weird upon the first few listens, and then you get used to it.

The choice of instruments you have made for this piece is very satisfying, as well as the percussion, apart from the snare which sounded a tad too artificial at times, but not enough to ruin the overall feel of the song. The way you intertwined the strings with the wind instruments is really good, and gives off that classical two-voiced "conversation between instruments" feel.

As for the mood of the song, it features an interesting development from a sort of ridiculous serious mood which slowly progresses to become more of a heroic, yet still serious piece. My impression of the song would be an old 19th century general who is preparing for the battlefield - sure, his enormous mustache might seem silly at first, but after prolonged observation, you get to respect his military genius and realize he's much more than just that.

Bottom line: really good, and requiring only minimal (if any adjustments). A very nice piece of work that I would without a second thought suggest to a lover of classical music, and most certainly a heavily under-valued song when it comes to the score.

Hey man, thanks for the lengthy review!

I ended up calling this piece 'done' because I wanted to be able to move on to other projects, and I felt that I had reached a point close enough to 'completion' that I wouldn't feel bad about leaving it as it is.

I personally really love some of the themes in this one. This piece also cemented my love for clarinet/violin duos. They're beautiful together.

Large vareity of instruments.

Nice orchestra. I really liked the music, you used the vareity of sounds really well which ended up in a very colourful song.

I didn't even see anything repetative, which in my opinion is a plus, looping something which was done already doesn't seem to be good.

Somehow this music, makes me imagne a small military camp with its own life which is full of different things.

Good job!
