The Hair
Goku and Gohan's hair was that pale yellow/near-white color, because they didn't have their Aura's active. The golden sheen they get is during battle, with what I call their 'Battle Aura'. As they're just maintaining the power level, and now actively using it, they don't use the aura, as that just wastes energy.
