I liked this quite a bit... it's the best one on the topic so far. I'd go so far as to say it's the best one on BOTH topics so far.
A few comments...
I don't follow CC or LL much (make that "at all"). I vaguely recognize a couple of the members (well, make that "I can guess their names") but I don't really know anything about them. Therefore, if the pilot of the plane was in any way significant, I missed out on it.
Possibly coupled with that, I don't know why Winchester was hanging onto the wing, if there was any reason other than "I'm making the flash, I'm damned well going to be in it."
I'm kind of ambivalent about how well the conflation of the WTC attack and the New Orleans flood worked. I think I liked it, but at first I was thinking "Why is Manhattan sinking? Heck, the plane hasn't even hit yet."
OMG FLOOD was really the one sour note that I can point to and say that the flash would have definitely been better without. It didn't mesh at all well with the message at the end (which was quite nice, by the way, as opposed to the "America R00LZ"/"Amerika SUX" that I've been seeing in other 'tributes').

heh, thanks, there wasn't any real relevance to character placement except for Peach (cus he looks middle-eastern) and Water because of internal politics in the LL.
as for my character geing on the plane, yeah it was one of those, "I'm making the flash, I'm damned well going to be in it." things. ^_^
and yeah, I was trying to merge 2 disasters into one for some reason.. :S
and the OMG FLOOD was one of the subtle things to try to keep the atmosphere from being completely serious.

You're not an idiot, and I'm not going to mock your values. I've read what you've had to say thus far and you seem like a reasonable person. This movie was just a big miss with me though, it really didn't express anything from the author.
