Reviews for "Who Thanked Who?"

Amazing!

This is perhaps one of the best films I have seen on NG. Normally the submissions to the site are good for laugh. But this was something altogether different. Beautiful, evocative and amazing imagery. Brilliant, simply brilliant.

Amazing

I am amazed by your ability to tell a story and make a point without ever actually coming out and saying what your point is.

Your movies have meaning, and not the kind of pretend “meaning” you find in todays films (like, uh, The Matrix… “free your mind”, yeah, real deep)

Good movies make you think. Great movies make you think of something at an entirely new angle. This is a great movie.

BTW – I love the “Velcro” short film on your website.

Great Work

Take heart Alan. I appreciate your work. I have watched many of your animations several times. This one in particular was very, very good and like many of the others evoked many good questions about humanity. Don't let the kids get to you, remember that one of the reasons Newgrounds is great is because it allows unfettered expression from all. You are right about one thing: Todays youth is limited in it's understanding and has rigid expectations enforced by the media they overload on daily. They are not built to comprehend work like yours, which may not be so bad. It means they will never be burdened by questions and doubt surrounding our existence. Anyway I place great value in your work. If it counts for anything, I am a graduate student in film studies.

uhhhhhh................WTF!?!

that's all i can say the last 2 i agree with the last 2 people it makes NO FUCKING SENSE!!!!!!!! it was kinda funny so ill give it a 3. but try harder next time! :)

AlantheBOX responds:

okay, i'm really proud of this movie and i'm tired of seeing it get such bad reviews.
1. i'm assuming the people who watched this read the description and see that this was based off of a dream, hence, maybe it doesn't make sense (conventionally)
2. why does it have to make sense? maybe it's just some subconscious desire of our media/plot driven brains. i don't know.
3. it does make sense (to myself and at least a few people who have taken the time to read into it)
4. this movie is obviously dealing with suicide (unconventionally, i think), euthanasia (bald head, cancer patient, sinking, hopelessness, etc), and friendship (companionship, understanding), and ultimately freedom.

was i wrong submitting this cartoon to a website predominantly frequented by a younger (violence driven?) crowd?

definitely.
