i think you should definitely go with the pads and piano... maybe you could use the same piano part during the main beat to cover over during the ambience section? just an idea... i'm liking it and would love to hear a finished version when complete

such a great song
is kind of sweet, the intro was very good, has a little of out of space sounds in the background, and the beat great, then the piano add a really nice effect on it, having a cool beat with the sweet piano was a good combination, don't change too much, but you don't get bored, is the kind of songs you can leave for hours playing
then you added a clap i think, it makes me appreciate more the beat, so you use it really well there... i makes the piano less important for a moment, and that's was a nice way to finish it
