Reviews for "Invasion 2"

Continued from other review

Since I ran out of lines on the last one... here is the continuation

Now... on to ideas you could use for the next game. Adding some new defences for the castle to have would be nice. a moat as someone suggested which could slow down the speed. guards who shot at your guys (and would allow the meatshielf effects of soldiers to become useful, and make the soldiers useful as they went and killed enemy musketmen) or if they had a spiked wall that had to be taken out by ranged attack, and prevents a massive assault by footmen. Also the addition of the other units would be very nice, and could add variety to the attacking side too. adding mages and priests (who could cast protective shields) are all possibilities. adding varying terrain which could favor archers or warriors, or forests which would discourage cavelry... etc. would be nice. The enemy could also maybe have layered defenses... where one has to take out a tower, then move on to the main castle. Also a diplomacy aspect could be nice, where you could bribe the enemy archers to not fire as frequently, or have the guards be on your side instead! maybe you simply sabotage the castle walls, or maybe you sabotage the burning water.

Now considering you updated it... I will review the updates. Interesting ideas of weather and night and day, but the weather graphics can be done much better and could also effect the battle, create movement penalties, etc. The battering ram was good, but not powerful enough early game... it ought to deal more damage. The water killing only one guy is definately a vast improvement over the previous game.. but I still think it ought to kill multiple guys.. just maybe 2-5 instead of all of them. Good balancing of money. Overall a vast improvement, but now the game is a little slower. maybe you should increase the speed of the characters a bit. good job!

VENGEANCE-GGG responds:

I already thought of a moat for version 1, but since the water pots were unfairly powerful, it would render infantry unusable. I think it'd be a bit more possible now.

One thing you have to realise is that archers can't aim. They fire almost completely randomly - the arc was only developed for shooting the castle, and nothing else. Theey wouldn't be reliable enough to take down walls or anything.

I might add mages, since I was thiking about it since version 1. No trees, though. It would be too complicated to make people go behind them or in front of them, and I'm not gonig to make cavalry anyway - I don't see how they could be very different to infantry.

No guards - I want this to be as close to a reversion of Defend your Castle as possible, and guards would be hard to program. It'd also be hard to make people attack them.

No diplomacy. It's pointless - disabling one of the few enemy weapons would guarantee that you won.

I don't think the rams work at all - they seemed to be using the infantry's attack power to hurt the castle instead of using their own attack power. Play the version on my wqebsite for a fix of this.

Fun for a while but gets repetitive

This is a good base for a better game.
Like this it isn't very good because there's no challenge.
It's the same level over and over with more money everytime.
Am I supposed to get those 3 other units like Trebutchet and Cavalry?

VENGEANCE-GGG responds:

You can't get the other units: they were greyed out for a reason. In Version 1, they HAD to be greyed out, otherwise the interface would look strange. In Version 2, I could've just taken out the second column... but I left it in. Hopefully Version 3 will have a filled set of units.

No More Clicky :D

Damn, now that was long... had to quit (got bored of it), had over 250,000 in gold, and only using 15 archers... each time I beat a level, I would only use like 10,000-12,000 in upgrades, a few arrows, and boom... easy after 10th level... good game though (btw level 51)

VENGEANCE-GGG responds:

Level 51? Wow. Having played it so many times, I've only ever seen any point in going up to level 15.

Great

I was a bit tired of defending of castle :)

VENGEANCE-GGG responds:

So was I. That's why I made the game.

way too easy....

got to level 101 but i didnt feel like going on any longer

VENGEANCE-GGG responds:

That's further than I've played to.
