Reviews for "Betrayal DVD"

...........

The artwork is great.and the music is good.

Fair work.

It kinda dragged on a bit in the beginning, but was interesting nonetheless. I read the meaning and I think I follow what you are trying to say ,and you certainly picked a unique way to present it. Style points for you.

The graphics were appealing without being too detailed. Some people feel they have to detail the hell out of something for it to be appealing, but the end result is caved in skulls and exploded eyeballs. You, however, are wise to leave that alone. Choice animation for its size.

Ultimately what we have here is a nice piece of work, not your best imho, but nice.

So, I'm sure the Q on everyone's minds is SG! When are we going to see another episode :D?

Last, but not least, once again, serious props! I'm still loving my vector pic.

"Don't ever trust the needle, it lies." :P

Extra votes if you can name the band and song.

Cheerio.

Needle responds:

Hey man :) It's good to deviate from Strategy Guide now and then, as you can imagine it can get pretty monotonous.

I'm planning big things for episode 4 and I'm hoping to have it out before the end of March. Part of the reason I did this time trial (I'm also working on another one as we speak) was to perfect a couple techniques I'll be using for Episode 4. The extra experience is going to help a lot, because Ep. 4 is going to be downright epic. It should dwarf Ep. 3.

Thanks for the review, got no idea who the band is! hehe

really good but one question though

why did teh creatures leave intrails of the animal lying around if they where eating him? most creatures eat it all, so it should really be just a skeleton lying there...

pls answer ^^

Needle responds:

dunno o_O It was just a stylistic choice on my part I guess. Just leaving bones didn't seem messy enough, hehe

Well done

Without light, how would you ever know (or care) what darkness was?

Sometimes it takes something as serious as death to open your eyes to the world around you. Take off the social blinders so to speak. Allow yourself to witness that awe that exists in the simplest of things.

Great concept, and a great movie.

Keep up the good work ;)

Needle responds:

Thanks for the review, and the alternate viewpoint. I love hearing what people come up with - usually it's a lot more interesting than what I have to say! :)

needle goes deep...

I wrote a review for this piece when it was part of the NG time trial and I have to say my opinion has not changed. This is an excellent submission boasting a powerful and fascinating concept (the opening line was a magnificent question that I'm sure everybody who watches this will think about afterwards). And that really is what this flash is all about...deep thoughts (mixed well with creepiness ^-^).

The graphics were great. Backgrounds were decent and the shadowing/lightning effects were terrific. Also very good use of what I call "smooth plate" animation (where characters are drawn as mult-tiered interacting parts rather than one solid piece (I love this style!)).
Sound was also well chosen and executed. Music was creepy (in keeping with the theme) and the creatures' howls were disturbing.
Premise and plotline...see above. Excellent, especially the finale.

The only real complaint I have is for you Needle: Don't apologize for the few problems it had previously. My jaw dropped when I found out you did this in a time trial and I was going to suggest you make a solo out of this anyway.

You're a talented man of many hats (for those who don't believe me, see Strategy Guide series) and you need not apologize when you have done no wrong. Just a thought ^-^

Excellent job all around.

Needle responds:

Thanks for the exceptionally thorough review - I do try to mix things up when possible. Strategy Guide will always be my "number one", but it's good to get away and move in a new direction now and then.

This movie has been pretty evenly divided on reviews - there are those who have taken the moment to reflect on it, and there are those who have voted zero. I can't help but get a little defensive now and then :)
