Reviews for "The Story of Beowulf"

Good job!

Along with everyone else, I too had to read Beowulf in English class. They should of shown this flash with it though, it wouldn't have taken so long to read! ;=)

It was pretty great.

There were a few inaccuracies on your part, such as:

Beowulf did party when he got to Heorot, after the shenanigans with Unferth challenging him over the swimming boast between Breca and Beowulf, but he never fell asleep. He feigned sleep, and when Grendel came in, the engaged in a glorified arm-wrestle. Beowulf won.

Grendel's mother killed but one thane of Hrothgar; Aeschare. They all went to take Beowulf to the lake of blood, and found his head on the way. She left it there.

We only really find out that Grendel is dead after Beowulf kills Grendel's Mother, and sees that Grendel is lying on his deathbed, having bled to death.

The dragon didn't terrorize anything. A theif fell through a shaft and discovered the lair. Beowulf and his thanes went for the booty.

Wiglaf is spelled with an a.

Beowulf told Wiglaf, as he lay dying, to lead his people, take the treasure his sacrifice allowed, and to build him a monument. That monument wasn't a grave. He wasn't buried. His ashes were placed in the walls. The treasure was left buried in the sandy ground because the thanes didn't feel worthy of it, since they had broken the law of comitatus to Beouwulf. Wiglaf only took what Beowulf directly gave him: His corslet, his rings, his armlets, and his neckace. Most of that stuff was given to him by Wealtheow.

Some of that is minor detail, some of it is major.

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, I really liked your flash. There were just some things that needed to be pointed out.

*blinks*

You did Beowulf proud! *grins* Amusing little gems like this are why I bother with the site... gods know I'm hopeless at this sort of thing :P

Great Job!

Yo, im in 8th grade.
That was cool!
Very funny.
I think that the ending was great!

Wow. What was your grade?

If I were that teacher that would be a solid A+ right there. I thought it was good and educational while still not losing all of its entertainment value.
