Hey! To start this decade right, we believe Newgrounds should be ad-free for EVERYONE. For this to work, we need people who have the means to become paying supporters. For just $3 per month or $25 for the year, you can help this happen and get some nice perks!
For the month of April we have disabled ads on all E-M content. We need 28 people to reach our goal of 3,000 active supporters. If we hit that, we'll continue with a new goal in May!
Please check out our Supporter Upgrade and consider coming aboard!
What kind of technique were you trying out?
Typically I put the flat colours in, add shadows, tone, then lighting effects and clean it all up.
This time however I started with the darkest colour first (the colour of the face in shadow) then slowly added more and more light, kind of like building it up from a dark silhouette to how it looks now. Quite a useful way to do it, if you understand what is going to be lit you know what goes where and don't spend too much time trying to perfect it. If you want examples of this being used, here are two artists that do something similar:
ugh i love this so much.
This is terrifying and I love it! Thank you and keep at it!
