Reviews for "The Tridecahedron Blood Summoning - Insanity Abstract Emerges"

Wow this is awesome!

Hey there. :)

Man, I can really tell you put a ton of thought and effort into this piece (as all your compositions seem to be, in the end.) Even with the spooky stuff there's things in there to jog one's brain listening to it. The tense, jagged strings and atmospheric sounds at the beginning appropriately built-up the anticipatory nature of the song till we get to the good stuff. Makes me think more of Suspense-Horror classics like movies by Alfred Hitchcock or very Macabre Horror, like from Edgar Allen Poe... I swear one of his poems would fit perfectly with this song, (Masque of the Red Death or Pit and the Pendulum come to mind.) :D Also, love the distorted demon voice towards the end. o.o!

Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of more abstract / atonal music, but I can appreciate it and the orchestral finesse you give the song and bring to any musical table. It is a bit of a gamble with the song's length, but because you effectively and constantly have one on edge and is building to something, non-stop, throughout the song, I don't think it'll be a detractor in the end. Obviously isn't, cause a lot of people are liking what you do... ^_^

Keep at it. I look forward to hearing more of your stuff, and good luck in NGADM!

Holy crap, man! This is beyond amazing! The imagery it produces is incredible! I'm definitely using this as inspiration for when I make horror stuff in the future...

LD-W responds:

I've always been the kind of composer who prioritizes design and atmosphere above all else with my past projects. This one was somewhat different for me, in the case that I've forced myself to focus on composition aspects first, to get both the design and atmosphere results that I've sought after. Which can sound abit odd since the project is mostly atonal, but trying to do things like surround some of the projects technical focus around the Number 13 in terms of it's Time Signature, Tuning and to an extent tempo aswell formed the basic building blocks for everything else to get structured on top, and allowed for 'structured experimentation' per-say.

Thanks for checking the track out!

This one is all over the poace. In a good way.

LD-W responds:

My mind was also all over the place when composing it haha

Alot of the compositional approach was just passively trying to form atonal passages in my head, and just immediately noting down what I felt like would work. Whether that would be picturing notation, or trying to translate from mind-to-DAW certain timbre's and atmospheres etc. It's one of those kinds of projects where alot of ideas can flow freely, but it takes a case of being extra picky with the details and following gut instincts to try and get the best results, even over tiny details. I've probably lost several hours just from shifting quiet percussion hits by factors of like 1/10th of a second just to try and get the precise feeling that I want, along with notation lengths on string and brass legato's to try and get as much of a 'realistic'-like flow to everything. Almost tempted at some points in the project to see if I could edit some of the legato scripts, but I'd need more time available to do that!
