Reviews for "Wolf and Lantern"

Ahh...

Man i love the anime and novel, i am now awaiting the manga, Her to me is a perfect character for an art peice! Spice and Wolf is my alltime favorite anime! i hope you keep tis up, and i also hope to see another art peice of her in the future...

DeliciousOrange responds:

I thought so too. There isn't enough Spice and Wolf fanart in the world.

nice

glad to see this anime getting some attention

DeliciousOrange responds:

I agree, I think it slipped under most people's radar.
It definitely isn't for the younger crowd. That's not just for Holo's tendency to strip down at any opportunity, but also because the story tends to be extremely dialog heavy and focuses on economics and political subterfuge. People looking for a simpler action oriented series probably will have better luck elsewhere.

reeetttaaarrrdddd.

its a fox silly billy :/. but a sexy fox all the same.

DeliciousOrange responds:

Holo's golden brown fur and white tipped tail are typically associated with foxes, but it also associated with the Maned wolf. While I agree that a white-tipped tail is especially rare for a wolf to have, all of the light novels and the animated series constantly refer to Holo as being a very proud wolf spirit.

great composition

love how the light from the lantern's being reflected on her

try googling images to find photographs of real models to use as a reference next time. that prevents the foreshortening from being off.

I also encourage that look think outside of anime, look up latino art, tinga tinga, russian constructivism, there's a ton of unique cultures out there that deserve to be explored more, so learn from them to take it to the next level.

DeliciousOrange responds:

I'm not sure what makes people think I didn't check this pose for plausibility. While I'll admit it's quite an unusual and somewhat contorted pose, I did make sure that it's possible for a human body to achieve such a position.

Personally I'm not a big fan of latino pop art or tinga tinga, they are interesting styles, but strike me as a bit juvenile in their development. Russian constructivism is actually a style I quite like to draw upon for it's sharp geometric look and bold solid colors, but this piece attempts to create a more traditional painted feel, drawing more upon baroque chiaroscuro paintings and classical turkish pinups. I do this while also trying to remain faithful to Kazuya Kuroda and Ayakura Juu's original illustrations of the character.
