this game is adorable, but the control sceme is absolutely awful. give the option to use the arrow keys to move instead of wasd, and map the attack button to anything other than click.

If you'd like your art to be featured and credited in our loading screens you can post your artwork with the tag "botanica-game" and message us about your work. So long as the artwork is appropriate and fits into a 16:9 ratio, we should be able to put it in game for the full release!

Botanica is a hand drawn 2D side scrolling platform-adventure in a world of sentient plants. By learning and borrowing abilities from the enemies and bosses of this world you might just be able to defeat the scourge that threatens all of plant life.
We've been slowly but surely chipping away at this game for the last year or so and we're (not so fast) nearing the date for our full release! We thank everyone who have supported us thus far and those that played our previous prototype build.
The full release will have 3 more areas and a plethora of new levels to explore. There will be tons more bosses, abilities, weapons, and secrets for you to discover!

i think that i found a bug (maybe it's just cuz i haven't played enough, but i havent found any application to it that could break any level) if you hit some spikes and a bouncy mushroom at the same time, you will get launched way higher than usual
This game is really well done, however I can only give it 2 stars because I'm having a really hard time playing. The lag is really bad to the point where this game is almost unplayable. It could just be my internet tho.
It's a really cool looking game, though perhaps overly simplistic for me. One thing I would change however, it feels like kunais are really useful for navigation, so whenever I need to use one and miss, and then have to wait for it to fill back up, that's really annoying to me. I understand for combat mechanics where you have an alternative, just feels unnecessary for navigation.
Best of luck on the launch though!
Hmm, well I was able to use a seed, but it only appeared onscreen for a second or two. I couldn't really use it. Whatever, this was an enjoyable game even if I couldn't advance that far. The music was nice and soothing. The best part was probably how I had good mobility. It was a unique way of attacking.
You omitted any black lines. I should take note of that in more games. Was I supposed to jump on top of the plant immediately as it grew? I put in below me, but it couldn't propel me anywhere. At least I knew how to aim it.
