I never thought I would make a new Flash-game in 2024 but here it is. My first Olympic themed game in 12 years. That said, it's a prototype rather than a fully finished game. The input code is horrendously complex and I haven't had the time to find the perfect balance between depth and playability. But I intend to work out a fully fleshed game with rounds where you race more or less weird competitors so that the game also fully lives up to its name.
UPDATE: Unfortunately input lags quite badly when I test with Ruffle. I have tried to lower the frame rate, but it doesn't seem to help. Perhaps it will work on fast computers, but others may be out of luck. Running should be hard, but not quite QWOP-like hard! Sorry, this is definitely work in progress.
UPDATE 2: Removed the filter based swoosh-line effect behind the player runner and performance clearly improved, but it is still too hard to run with proper form.
UPDATE 3: I have tried to adjust running sim parameters to alleviate control difficulties but the system is very complex so I have probably just messed it up even more ... Ignore the harsh judgement after the race. If you are able to finish the race, you are doing good and if you don't finish last, you are doing very well. That said, it is still possible to medal, but it is very hard even for me.
UPDATE 4: Tried touch screen for the very first time and it works well despite not getting any attention during development. Perhaps preferable to mouse control.

Harder than QWOP!
The 3D effect on the tracks is a nice touch.
Thanks, the 3D is super simple, but suits the style.
I feel like you can use the disqualified scene to practice, which I think is cool, and the instructions explain it well. The gameplay is fun and takes practice to get used to. On my second try, I got to second place. It is difficult to get to first place. Sizzling! I keep getting to second place. On my fourth try, I got to first place at 11:39. Glorious! I feel the experience is short and concrete, and it has an interesting concept that I feel is well-executed.
So, it is winnable after all! I'm pleased to hear. Yes exactly, my intention of not forcing a restart after a DQ was to enable stress free practicing (and also to put in a goof that sadly did not make it in time).
pretty hard on mobile but it does work
135.7 LOL
Thank you for your patience :) I may have to remove backward running (via anticlockwise movements) altogether.
yknow, this is pretty silly. and I like that
I'm not good at it at all, and always end up dead last, but I guess this is a QWOP-like and that is par for the course (the 100-metre course, that is!)
also, I see what you did there with the wii like menuing ;)
I kind of wanted a QWOP-like feeling for the first attempts, but then the player should get to grips with the controls and be able to run in several different ways at will, and finally, a bit later, be able to literally fly! Instructions will help, but will not suffice, so I have some thinking to do.
