this is epic how did i not see this series before

esto es epico como no vi esta serie antes

Cute art, musics, and aesthetics. Controls are basic but are fluid enough to not be an issue. The game was shockingly shorter than I expected. However I can see the potential of this game to be expanded and take advantage of it's (mostly) tight controls and original enemy designs. Being able to skip the dialogue and cut-scenes with z is a nice touch.

Two major criticisms of the game are: The aspect ratio of the game. Having a good chunk of the screen accommodate for the health bar makes for some awkward platforming. Since a good chunk of the screen is cut, it makes many of the platforms feel like a leap of faith when they would otherwise feel safe to jump down had the screen been expanded a bit. It isn't just the screen that's the problem. Whenever the character falls down, they go way too far below the screen making you guess if she'll land or not. This is also problematic in the second level as when you are climbing the waterfalls, she goes way too high up on the screen making hits from the enemies on the waterfalls feel cheap. This can be fixed by having the character be in the middle of the screen and having the camera follow her whenever she is ascending or descending.
The other problem being the lack of a controls section on the description that many newgrounds games do and/or the lack of a "Press Z to Start" on the title screen. As I had to "mash all of the buttons on the controller" (as the princess said) to figure out which button was the advance button.

Some Quality of Life for the game would be to have a pause menu (Either Enter or ESC, unless I am told otherwise) as well as a basic options menu for the main menu and pause screens (mainly just options for music and sfx volume). The wall jumps feel inconsistent as you have to press the opposite direction of the wall without any indication of it. It would be nice to have a simple sprite of her clinging to the wall like many games do, as well as her slightly slowing down her descent when on a wall, and maybe a jump sound when performing a wall jump.
A bug I noticed was you can activate the dash sound three times during a single dash.
I don't know if it's just me but does the synth in the second half of the credits song sounds slightly off-tune (maybe I'm just going crazy).
I don't know if this was intentional but the balloon icons in the main menu look JPEG'd.
Hopefully you will take my criticisms into consideration for this game or the next project you guys work on. Cheers!

Thank you for playing and thank you for the feedback, it is very much appreciated. I'll keep it in mind for the next time that I can work on the game to make it even better :D

GoldMaster7 responds:

Thank you so much for playing this little game and for taking the time to make such a detailed and nice review! I'm not the autor nor the director of the game, but I'm sure these issues will be adressed when/if the game gets worked on again ^^
