FAQ / More Info
What is this?
This is a "prototype showcase" for a platformer engine I've been working on for the past 3 months. I was originally just going to show it off to a few friends for some feedback, but since I wanted to publish something for Pixel Day why not get feedback from people who are less inclined to be nice to me!
The reason I am showing this off is that this will be the base for my next commercial game! A retro, action-platformer with a heavy emphasis on control and movement. Of course, every platformer wants to "feel good" to play, but I want to push it a bit more! I want this game to allow different play styles for all skill levels. If you are a platformer novice or pro, this game will feel rewarding and fun for everyone! More or less, players will have a variety of movement options that will make exploring levels fun!
This prototype is not a full game, nor does it reflect what the final game will be like. Its main purpose is to show off the progress I've made on the movement thus far and I am looking for feedback! So please, any suggestions or changes you would make to the player movement of this showcase, I'd love to hear! But be aware, everything in this showcase is subject to change and is VERY early in development still. Truthfully, the movement alone took about 2 months to "perfect" and all of the little gizmos you interact with in the world were made in only a month...
What can I expect?
In the quoted section above I said that "This prototype is not a full game, nor does it reflect what the final game will be like." So what will the final game be like, if not this?..
More or less, the final game will be less "open", and will instead opt to be a more linear experience akin to Super Mario World or Kirby's adventure! The reason this prototype opted to lean into revolving around a hub area was so that players could see everything this showcase has to offer at their own pace.
The only thing in this prototype that is for sure staying in the final game is the movement, and even that will probably be changed in ordinance with the feedback received! As I said, this is VERY early in development, but just don't expect the final game to play around this whole "hub-area" idea...
When will this be fully released?
That's a great question, and the most honest answer is I don't know. My last game, 'Shoot Trip Die', I expected to take about a year, and it came out within a year! Maybe that was just a lucky guess, but I'd say realistically this game will take about 2-ish years to finish, much longer than my last game. The reason for that is this game will not rely on procedural generation like STD, instead, it will have nothing but hand-crafted, linear levels (That take a long time to make!)
Where will this be fully released?
Steam / Steam Deck 100%, But I really wanna try to get this on consoles as well if I can get in contact with people who could possibly port the game to said consoles!
How can I stay updated?
If you are somewhat involved on Newgrounds you may have already seen the first two installments of 'The Levi Post' in which I talk about what I've done throughout the month. I started making these posts to actually show off the development of this game, and I don't plan on stopping! So...

But anyways, yeah, Happy Pixel Day! If this game seems even slightly up your alley follow me on my journey to finish this game! I want to get a steam page up for this game hopefully by March or February so. When that happens I'll get rid of this line and just link to that steam page! :-D
this game is great but the controls give me finger cramps
me encanto el juego, es muy bueno aun que todavia no descubro como conseguir todos los logros, es muy entretenido y me gusta jugarlo una y otra vez
I got $999 in 3 different playthroughs and the medal just refuses to unlock.
Also it would be nice to hear a hint about the secret medal, since all there is about it is a picture of a cat called Gus I guess?
The race level is the one I like the most
the secret still eludes me. even after a year.
I still like returning to this because I love the movement.
