My first try at a mobile game! For the Mobile Game Jam! https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1507126

I didn't really get to finish everything I'd wanted to do for it, but considering the fact that I don't really have much in the way of experience making games, I'm just kinda excited that it basically works lol

There's some weird issues with it, like the speed that the envelopes move varies depending on what screen size you play it on for some reason? Sometimes the envelopes get stuck mid-click, so you have to click on them again. The music doesn't play right away for some reason... but the basic important parts work!

EDIT: Yeah okay lol... I'm pretty sure the reason it changes speed depending on screen size is because of it being animated within the canvas UI, and fixing that would involve redoing everything from 0 so... yeah no lol, I'll just keep that in mind the next time I make a game haha

Also, an error message saying that "WebGL builds are not supported on mobile devices" pops up when I test this on my mobile devices, but... it still plays, so idk why that pop-up happens lol ?

I have a few unused images for making the character jump up and grab the envelopes, and I'd originally wanted to make it so when you hit "Retry", it'd blow the envelopes back into the air, and they'd fall to their knees in despair lol but I was getting frustrated and just wanted to be done with it haha

I was also going to have the flag and clouds blow in the wind to help sell just how windy it is... I know how I could get the clouds to move (same as how the envelopes move), but I'm less sure about the flag, so I might just leave it like that. EDIT 2: Yeah I don't want to work on this anymore lol

Oh, also the envelopes are all different colors because I needed to tell them apart while coding stuff! But I thought it looked nice, so I just left them like that... even though it doesn't match the cutscenes or affect the score or anything lol

As I'm typing this, it's apparently International Cat Day (August 8th), which is pretty funny to me (the character is a cat, the music used in the game is cat-themed, the game jam's mascot(?) is a cat, a lot of cat going on haha), but I assume I'll be leaving this in my drafts for a few more days until I decide I'm not going to mess with it anymore and just post it.

This was fun! :) I never really finish projects like this, so I'd like to do more game jams in the future, I think. Probably. If I have time lol

Don't really work on PC, but everything else is great!

confusing control method pretty unclear how to play? i just held on the envelope for ~10 seconds and it would usually just disappear and add to my envelope count

AvidAcidAxe responds:

It’s supposed to be where you just tap or click on them, I think I set it up wrong because in tests, I had to click on them multiple times… I couldn’t figure out how to fix it, unfortunately. I was able to beat it in my test runs, but it was a pain on my phone and computer (it’s easiest from my tablet).

I didn’t actually know it would collect them if you held down on it though, that’s pretty interesting! I wonder if I can figure out why it does that haha

Love the art and music, though my arms starting to hurt from clicking so much
