Use the arrow keys to climb above ground

While in the air, you have 3 air jumps for extra mobility

If your near the top of the screen, the screens scrolls faster, and it slows down if you get near the bottom

Hitting the bottom of the screen means you lose a life, and once all lives are lost you drop to 1 speed (the lives regenerates back afterwards)
