Decadungeon

Lead a party through ten floors filled with enemies, secrets, and loot. Will you claim the treasure found at the top floor?

Before diving into the mysterious Decadungeon, create your party by selecting a class for each hero. This challenging RPG rewards players that create a synergetic team, as each successive floor ramps up the difficulty and presents the party with new obstacles. Mix and match classes to create a team that can stand up to any foe.

Story

Ages ago, a benevolent king ruled from a magnificent tower. A beloved figure across the land, he served as a unifying voice for a world in conflict. People from all over would make pilgrimages to his tower, offering gifts to the king. However, this peace could not last forever; when a necromancer handed the king a corrupted crown, the once-kind ruler was driven to madness, driving the whole continent into an age of chaos. His kingdom fell to shambles, with its people deserting the tower, finding new homes, and vowing to never return.

Over centuries of abandonment, the tower has transformed into a shadowy den of monsters. Beasts spawned by the king's dark crown now prowl the tower's forsaken halls, preying on those foolish enough to enter. With the tower's name- and its grim story- lost to time, the people of the land know it by one name only... the Decadungeon.

However, not everyone has forgotten about the fallen king. Terra, his descendant, has made it her quest to retrieve and destroy her ancestor's crown. Accompanied by her loyal knight Brick, the sorceress Iris, and the swashbuckler Leon, she intends to restore her family name and discover what's hiding at the top of the Decadungeon.

Guide

Character Stats

  • HP: Maximum health.

  • Strength: Increases physical damage. Strength also increases damage from physical skills such as Knight’s Whirlwind and Lich’s Hexblade.

  • Magic: Increases magical damage and maximum MP. Most spells scale very slowly off Magic. For example, most Black Magic gains only 1 point of damage for every 4 points in Magic.

  • Dexterity: Increases turn speed, critical chance (1% every 2 points), and dodge rate (1% every 4 points).

  • Faith: Increases the potency of support magic as well as magical defense (1 magical defense per 4 points of Faith). Most White Magic scales faster than Black Magic; for example, spells like Cure gain 1 point of healing for every 2 points in Faith.

Combat and Party Composition

In Decadungeon, each hero, enemy, and boss acts on an individual timer. When that timer reaches zero, the unit acts. Increasing Dexterity increases the rate at which this timer goes down, leading to more turns during combat. At the start of a battle, this timer is filled a certain amount (which is partially random and partially based on the unit’s Dexterity).

You can swap heroes between the front and back rows in the Status menu. Heroes in the back row are less likely to be targeted, but only deal ½ damage with melee weapons (like swords, staves, and mallets). Bows instead deal full damage from the back row, and ½ damage in the front row. Spells deal full damage from any row, even if the caster’s weapon does not deal maximum damage from that row.

Skills and Spells

Characters learn new skills at predetermined levels. Certain classes also learn spells from the following four disciplines:

  • Black Magic: Used primarily by Mages and Liches, these spells scale with Magic.

  • White Magic: Used primarily by Clerics and Druids, these spells scale with Faith.

  • Green Magic: Learned by Mimics by using Mime on enemies. The stat these spells scale with depends on the spell. Some even scale with Strength.

  • Summon Magic: Used by Druids to create Summons. The health and power of Summons scale with the Druid's Magic stat.

Growths and Leveling Up

When heroes level up, each of their stats has a percentage chance to increase. There is then another roll to increase the stat by an additional point (+2 total). Health operates differently when leveling up; it can increase by up to 4 on its own, and also scales faster depending on the hero’s level and class.

Each character's stat growths (shown as Potential in the Status menu) are determined both by their class as well as personal growth modifiers.

you did my bro Brick dirty man lol. How could you just name bro Brick

also spy doesn't seem to work on bosses. and I'd like to see my skills and equipment on the character in battle. I have no short term memory or memory in general so that would be helpfull thanks. and like tf are all the status's on enemies

and difficulty ramps up a lot

also also is the freaking time stop infinite?!!??!?!

Very good. I'm sure party choices make a big difference but I feel the difficulty ramped up a lot on floor 4. Floor 2 was a cake walk, barely made it through 4 to the healing fountain, then the boss wasn't too hard. Got to floor 5 and got destroyed.

10/10 A PERFECT GAME!!!

how do i get the hidden power in the pitchfork

very fun, and i think it became my favorite game so far on newgrounds
