Ode to Newgrounds is a song written by North Carolina band Two Eyes Open and features Justin from Cheer Up Dusty on additional vocals and John from Win By 2 on the drums. It's available everywhere (including Bandcamp) as of April 30, 2021. We had Kreyoon make the adorable artwork for us, and Tasteylunch provided the animation work. It is a song about growing up, getting caught in day-to-day routines, and how people naturally split apart over time. We wanted to name the tune after something extremely nostalgic for us, that only people our age truly understand, since we grew up with it. Considering this was the site that pretty much raised us and introduced to the Internet in the best of ways, Newgrounds was the clear choice. The title also serves as a dual meaning; 'new grounds', as in an ode to new horizons, or a better future. It was only fitting that we debuted the song here. We wanted to give a massive shout-out to all the creators who inspired our childhoods and creativity growing up. Punk-O-Matic, Stick RPG, Fancy Pants, Alien Hominid, Castle Crashers, The Last Stand 2, Newgrounds Rumble, every flash cartoon that legends like Oney and Alvin-Earthworm made... we remember you and salute you.
