We've all been there. Following (or subscribing in this case) a random person only for that person to have joined around the same time as you but is far more successful than you. You try to be happy for this person and act like their success doesn't bother you but, deep down, you're left wondering to yourself why you aren't enjoying that success. Why do they get to have more followers/subscribers than you? Did you upload one or two things too soon? Or maybe you have a track record for uploading content of inconsistent quality.
This has never happened to me on YouTube. But it has happened to me a couple of times on FiMFiction where I faved a story of or even straight-up followed another user only to realize too late that they joined the site the same time as I have. And not only that, they got more followers than me and their stories have more views than mine. Though, in my defence, the one user I did follow who joined up the same year I did, I only followed because I thought their username sounded awesome.
