You play as Captain Blue Dude as the last line of defense against the incoming alien invasion. This just so happened to be the same week all the guys in the R&D department decided to test out a new efficiency model gun barrel and applied it to ALL of your guns without properly testing them. Looks like broken guns will have to do.

This game was developed in 48 HOURS.

Keyboard Controls:

WASD or Arrow Keys: Movement, Aiming and Menu Navigation.

N or Z: Jump and Menu Select.

M or X: Shoot

ESC or Enter: Pause

P: Mute All Sounds and Music

Gamepad Controls:

D-Pad or Left Stick: Movement, Aiming and Menu Navigation

A: Jump and Menu Select

B or X: Shoot

Start: Pause

Select: Mute All Sounds and Music

Update V1.4 NG:

  • Added a mute button.
  • Fixed issue with arrow keys scrolling the page.

There is no game jam. I just wanted to make something with Construct 3 and gave myself a time limit. (Technically the game surpassed this limit, I spent a couple extra hours getting scoreboards on Newgrounds working and fixing a bug or two, but other than that it was 48 hours.

The game was programmed in Construct 3.

First game in HTML5, not flash (sorry flash, it was good while it lasted probably)

First game with gamepad controls. Construct 3 made it easy.

Not too shabby! I think it's a neat concept to work with, and the presentation is pretty solid with cool visual elements like the objective beaming in as it moves around, a HUD arrow pointing in the right direction, and nice explosions. It's cool to battle through the chaos as you chase after the objective and contend with your backwards firing gun. I had fun, but right now it feels like it is lacking a bit though: maybe I didn't play far enough, but the game kinda gets old quickly. Would love to see this expanded on with more varied elements. For example, I think it would be cool if you kept running out of ammo and had to pick up various types of broken guns to work with: a gun that jams and you need to jump to fix it, a gun that blasts you backwards, and so on and so forth.

The game does lack a good quantity of content, but then again I only had 48 hours to build this game. I definitely like a few of your gun mechanic suggestions and I'll keep them in mind If I ever decide to make a "fuller" version of this game.

Some upgrades and a boss or two would be interesting too.

There actually is an upgrade as well as a couple of tougher enemies if you get a high enough score. They're not bosses but are harder to tackle.
