Simple and interesting idea, i only found 2 of 3 treasures my first time, and next try i got all of them.
Forsaken Hall is a tiny dungeon crawl adventure built in a weekend to try out some ideas for HTML / JavaScript based games.
Your goal is to find 3 hidden treasures, then escape the dungeon by finding the exit stairs.
Navigate the dungeon by clicking on the square and circle icons on the map. As you explore the dungeon new rooms will become available.
When you explore a room for the first time it will cost a single unit of torch light. If you run out of torch light the game will end! (There may be some extra torches lying around...)
In many rooms of the dungeon there are items or obstacles. You will collect most items automatically when you discover them.
You may revisit any room by clicking on it again -- this will not cost any torch light. From time to time you may encounter obstacles you cannot overcome at first, so you may need to explore additional rooms, then return.
When you encounter an obstacle you can click on any item in your inventory to attempt to use it to overcome the obstacle. Some obstacles will have additional interactions as well.
Note that the dungeon does not change from game to game, so if you happen to die you can try again and take advantage of your knowledge of where items are located.

Not working for me either. Using latest Opera browser and this is what I see: https://www.newgrounds.com/dump/draw/a84f11162c1be91c3a9ca7d3f6c75ae1
Restart button does nothing, and reloading gives the same result.
Thanks for the info and the screenshot yound -- are you not able to click on the gray circle on the map?
That initial screen of the game is pretty plain looking even when everything is working fine. (It could probably use a little tutorial bubble -- I'll see about making that happen.)
Very much like an old-school text adventure, or a dungeon-crawler from the 1980's. There was an old game called Dungeons of Daggorath that used the same torchlight mechanic: run out and you're finished. I'm just as uncertain of the mechanic now as I was then, but once I realized that your dungeon is not randomized, I realized that it was possible to learn the locations of the torches and items, and mathematically plan one's route to a successful ending. The game is such a glorious throwback that mapping it out old-school is a certain way to succeed. I didn't map it, but a memorization helped to reach the exit with all three treasures.
Great job. Not sure everyone will like it, but I do. For what it is, it's quite polished.
It doesn't work for me :/
Hi C-Lehman -- if you happen to have a minute can you let me know if the game just doesn't load or if is there something specific that isn't working? (Might be helpful to know what browser you are using too.) Thanks!
Interesting idea, and certainly worth revisiting/polishing, but there is one major flaw: the inventory for some reason moves alongside the text log, so by the later stages of the adventure there will be so much text that you can't even access your items anymore.
Unless i'm missing some sort of scroll function here but it doesn't seem to be the case.
EDIT: the issue with the scrolling was fixed, things work as intended now. also the new menu
design looks quite nice!
Thanks Zn65 -- there should have been a scrollbar (at least until I can tidy up the layout to keep the inventory from moving at all)!
Just uploaded a new version with what should be a fix for the issue.
