Game created for Phaser Game Jam 2020!

I just saw that the event was running in 08/02 O.O so, the game isn't so polished as I wanted to, but I'm really happy that I finished it in time =-D


If it's too dificult for you, see the tips below (has some spoilers) =-)


What I created:

  • Egg
  • Evolution animation
  • Atacks animations
  • Menu background
  • All sound effects
  • Last boss
  • All the code (of course)
  • Power, life and xp bars (except from icons)


Origin from things that I didn't produce myself:


Tips:

  1. Your pet only evolve eating enemies, although if the enemy has more life than the pet can do of damage, it get hitted to. To avoid it, take some health from the enemies (except from chicken, which has only 1 point of life).
  2. On the early game you can spam clicks, because enemies are weak, but at later game you have to save some power for the tough ones.
  3. Avoid enemies that you know that your pet can kill with 1 hit.
  4. You have to evolve your pet quickly, after some time, more enemies will come and among these, stronger ones.

Chicken:

  • Health: 1
  • Damage: 1 - 3
  • Xp: 1


Rat:

  • Health: 4
  • Damage: 2 - 5
  • Xp: 2


Bee:

  • Health: 3
  • Damage: 3 - 8
  • Xp: 3


Snake:

  • Damage: 5 - 10
  • Xp: 5


Final boss:

  • Health: ???
  • Damage: ???
  • Xp: ???

The game doesn't seem to work for me, for some reason. It just shows an image and never load...

There is no loading animation, just the Phaser logo. If you wait some time it will load =-)

Nice idea and I felt like I really had to protect that egg until it hatched! Once the Birzard was out and I let it start eating things it seemed to take ages to evolve - and it was hard to tell when an animal was attacking you compared to just being eaten. With a little more balancing I would have played for longer, for sure.

The idea of the game is pay attention to the enemy's life, so the Birzard can kill it with one hit and don't take any damage.

That's fun to play, although it's a bit repetitive. I like the egg opening animation and the tiny Birzard. The enemies sprite and animation could be improved, especially when they attack the egg. The enemies that attack the egg at the top of it seems to not touch it (because of the arcade physic I guess). The chicken sound is terrible so I absolutely want to kill them quickly ! The music is great. In this game we need to be focus, especially by keeping an eye on the healthbar and also on the enemies. Don't really know what is the goal of the third bar with the star. Anyway good job, it's easy to play but not easy to master. :)

The enemy animation isn't smooth enough, but I was with little time to create them, so I used the ones that I had in the moment. The chicken is really annoying hahaha, I made all sound effects. For the egg, I literally broke an egg shell on the microphone x-D. I used arcade phisics, maybe it's not the best for this kind of game, but I just used that one before. The third bar is the XP bar x-D if you fill that, the Birzard will evolve, it has 4 evolutions, after that the "final boss" will appear. The idea of the game is that you must leave the enemies with low health to feed the Birzard (because of that you have to be careful to not overprotect it x-D). Thanks for yout review, for sure I will keep improving this game and your review was very constructive =-D
