You can download the game for free @ https://alex-savander.itch.io/moon

This game was a school project made during spring of 2018 in 3 weeks with 6 students from Stadin Ammattiopisto.

moon. is a 2D-platformer with the main mechanic being a shadow version of yourself that you can summon at will, and that shadow version has inverted controls to you, which you need to use to your advantage to solve different puzzles. The shadow can also be told to stay in place, which makes the player able to jump on top of the shadow to reach higher areas.

There is 5 areas and a total of 15 fully completable and polished levels with different kinds of puzzles like rolling boulders on buttons, activating levers, gathering keys and more. The art in the game is beautiful and eye-catching.

Each area in the game has a different look and aesthetic to it with each having a unique song. The soundtrack is composed with well fitting and unique themes,
It is also said, that the game contains hidden secret areas with unique collectables... But that might just be a rumour.

Admittedly not bad. The art is quite nice, and the music fits the mood. My only critique would be to polish the controls. As I'm seeing in the other reviews, the controls are a bit clunky. I mean, they work, but as I said before, they need some polish. The UI could also use some prettying up to make it work better with the game.

Other than that, the concept is pretty cool.

AlexSavander responds:

Thank you for your critique!
What about the controls feel clunky? Should they be more snappy?
Also yeah I agree with you about the UI.

Looks good, but the controls aren't fluid enough for me so I can't even solve the first puzzle. The wolf and his shadow keep falling off the platforms so I can't get them to the pressure plates. But maybe I just suck at this game and/or my computer is the problem. I use Chrome as my browser to go.

Edit: Ok, I managed to open the first door, but it still feels like I'm trying to walk on ice when I'm using the controls.

AlexSavander responds:

You what? If you can't solve the first puzzle, I don't recommend reviewing the game.

The puzzle mechanics are pretty cool. :)

the character sprites could pop a little better against the background though

and the physics could feel a bit heavier

moon dog was worth it

A very simple yet enjoyable game. Something you should be proud of for sure!
Hope to see more!
