epic

This game oozes with potential but it feels quite... Unfinished. With a few tweaks and twists I could see this becoming a full release but as it is right now there's not a lot to it.

To start off let's focus on that pixel art. Cute, simple and colourful, it fits like a glove with both the premise and this type of game. There's not a lot to say about it other than how superb and in-place it feels and I believe there's no need to change any of it.

The way the game itself plays, however, needs quite the rework. Snapping right at the beginning upon losing just takes the player out of the game. I recommend changing the kitty's sprite for a fraction of a second when being hit by one of those stars and adding some delay before transitioning back to the spawning point. Something like a short fade or quickly taking the camera all the way back to make it all more fluid in general. Also the music just restarting whenever you fail can get quite annoying. I advise to just let it keep on looping.

Then there's the double jump mechanic. I found myself being able to get away with a lot more than I deserved to since making contact with a surface with any part of your body allows you to double jump twice again. In order to be able to jump again, let alone twice, the player should be forced to land with their feet (paws?) or you risk people outright cheating their way to victory.

And finally there's the moving platforms. Maybe it was on purpose but not moving automatically along with them as they slid across the screen and having to manually keep up with them was just confusing to me.

When it comes to the UI it feels more like a placeholder than like an actual element of the game. This can be fixed easily creating another couple sprites in tune with the game's aesthetic in order to substitute the texts and boxes that feel out of place.

All in all this game could be much, much more. More levels, more polish, tighter mechanics... Don't give up on it, you can do it!

SpicyCatStudios responds:

Thank you very much for your suggestions, we'll keep them in mind in order to further polish the game!

Si pudieras agregar algunas habilidades para defenderse o poder atacar.

SpicyCatStudios responds:

Buenas ideas, gracias!
