Some puzzles make no sense. For example the arbitary placement of the grids outer half or the orientation for the painting. Neither seem to have any real clue.

There is some potential here. Only thing is that you have to focus on the game environment extremely heavily and guessing what looks like a solution or just coincidental design. Difficult but can be done. A little bit of music or some kinda of ambient noise would break the loud silence.
