C&H Fist Fight Animatic

Share Collapse

This stuff is owned by Cyanide & Happiness, but I drew and animated everything you see here! This is an animatic, and not final animation, but if you want to see how the full thing turned out, click here and watch Fist Fight! The animation team had a lot of fun bringing this one to life.

This is the 3rd animatic I've made for a Cyanide & Happiness short. This is around the time I became savvy with a lot of C&H inside gags that exist as easter eggs within the show, like Bean Friend and 8295. But in true fashion, I managed to sneak in a couple of easter eggs of my own, just for fun's sake.

For instance, the two background dancers are looping doing one of my favorite gifs at the time, the whitest dance you've ever seen.

I had also just got done working on the ending half of Season Too of the Cyanide & Happiness show. The first segment I worked on was Bill Brass, a Bob Ross parody, and I snuck him into one of the thumbnails the dad looks at, which is a reference that transferred over to the final cut.

One reference that didn't make it to the final cut was I put myself in the crowd at the end. Bald and bearded, and wearing a Type O Negative shirt. That character was simply replaced with some dude in a leather jacket. But ah well. I learned a lot about Flash Animating on this one, like replicating the vertical filming style with tweens, and loop animations in general. I had a lot of fun and grew as an animator because of it.

There's something about watching these in this style that's somewhat beautiful. Maybe it was just the emotional plot to this submission.

Is the audio the same in the final product? (He asks even though he has full access to check himself)

Please help, thank you.

Thank you for the serious response.

I don't understand what you mean, you're confusing me young man.

The temp music used is the theme from Forest Gump, which is almost an inside joke among the office because it's the go-to "tender emotional" temp track, but the music in the final short is arranged by Steve Lehman, who puts his own spin to it and makes something original.

Further audio mastering is done by Ben Governale of Cymatic Studios.
