You’ve found the secret to eternal life in delicious stew form.. Now all you have to do is sacrifice your luscious garden to continually drink that stew till the end of time!

Made in 72 hours for Ludum Dare 43!

Jam Page - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/stew-souls

~~Controls~~

  • Arrow Keys: Move
  • X: Pickup/Throw Items
  • C: Interact

~~Tips~~

  • Keep your health up by drinking stew from the bowl on the dinner table. No drinking directly from the cauldron, that's just bad manners!
  • When your bowl is empty, you need to refill it by scooping up more stew from the cauldron (using your trusty ladel).
  • The stew in your cauldron is not infinite, but you can make more of the delightful drink by tending to your garden. Luckily your vegetables also love the stew - help them grow by watering them, then toss them straight into the cauldron!

The controls are x and c.

Spoiler alert:

Once you enter the house to your left is the watering can and the ladle. On your right is the bowl of soup. Drink the soup for hp. Water the plants to make more soup.

I suppose the game is more like a puzzle and you need to be able to throw items correctly with the tricky controls. Nice art.

the music is very repetitive very fast. the controls don't work logical and it was not clear what you had to do at first.

I don't really know what to do..

Nah, you also apparently sacrificed your ability to walk in a straight line. The controls are just plain awful. I have myself wondering if maybe you did that to add an element of challenge to the game? Bad controls, slippery movement, etc. are never a good source of challenge for a game. I understand this is an LD game, and I totally respect that is a lot of work in 72 hours. If you do a post jam release perhaps a better source of challenge would be to make it so that the soup wears off faster as time goes by requiring more gardening or whatnot. I don't know. I did enjoy it, for a bit though and I could tell a good amount of effort went into it. I was going on 4 minutes before I quit, but I was probably on my way out soon anyhow.

These controls are not fun. I like the idea and the 3D effect is very cool, but the tank controls and slow movement hurt to play.
