You can never have enough female heroes. That's sort of the endpoint behind rebranding Valda. Yes she was an interesting character in the 70's and 80's but her style lacked anything memorable which is unfortunate because her character has many interesting qualities. She's an immortal raised by a Romani woman, is in possession of a magic crystal that gives her superhuman traits and can even talk to animals but somehow hasn't appeared aside from a brief stint in the early 2000's. That's why the redesign has mixture of old and new styles. Three of her costume variants were pulled from Sailor Moon because they were bright with a style that was both nostalgic and timeless. This kinda goes with the tone of the animation, a mix of the good natured stuff in cartoons today (feeding a poor three-legged cat) and crazy violence of the late 90's/early 2000's (punching a monster so hard it explodes).
