This animated music video was commissioned for a recording I made with flutist Emily Kaplan.

The piece is "Earth" by Takatsugu Muramatsu, and the animation was created by the wonderful pixel artist Clarissa Picolo, known online as Maruki.

I am playing the piano on this recording.

Neat musical collab! I liked the character designs, especially the green worm.
I also like how the snail kind of serves a 'timeline' aswell. While screensavers are a pretty rare thing nowadays, this could be a great one!

BenTibbetts responds:

Thanks! Yes, it's odd to think about how long it's been since I last saw a screensaver. Glad you enjoyed this collaboration; I would definitely recommend checking out Maruki's other work if you like this style.

Wow nice

So this was something "AMAZING" you have some good artistic talents and the fact you did this in "PIXEL" was another amazing idea here, it plays as a music video was really nice it was pleasent, I suggest make more of these types this particular piece does not need any changes it was a beautiful piece, So that was one heck of an entry and i was pretty pleased with the outcome you have impressed me today and have outdone yourself, So wish there was more of this, but i am pretty pleased on this though

I suggest make more of these types this particular piece does not need any changes it was a beautiful piece

maruki responds:

Thank you for your kind words! I hope to have the opportunity to work on more projects like this one in the future!

I feel this trope in music attaches itself to individual's visions of a perfect life; which in our modern unified world, seems to be pretty consistent across everyone. Connection to nature, and friendship. Balance, basically.
Also, pretty good.

maruki responds:

What an interesting perspective! Thank you.

High quality.

So relaxing, I loved it
