you were a steward of a king

one morning, the king was assassinated on his bed, you walked into the room with a tray to serve the king his breakfast as you saw him, you put down the tray, picked up the knife and started to search the room, at the time, you didn't think to call for help. You made a mistake.

A servant walked in to witness you with the knife in your hand at the king's bedside. You got blood on your hand due to the fact that you looked under the bed and put your hand on the blood-soaked floor.

you tried to explain that it wasn't as it seemed, they didn't seem to believe you

they threw you in the dungeon for you to await execution.
