alittle rough around the edges, but it shows promise.
specifically i would build into your rigs the ability to alter the eyes Glare placement.
and make sure the glare is never obscured by the eyelid. (because a glare is caused by light, the eyelids should never hide a glare if one occurs at all)
its believed that the reason Glares in the eye make a charecter look alive is because when someones dead there eyes dry out and don't form a glare.
so adding in the glare should help make your charecters not look so dead eyed.
NPR rendering brings in a whole host of challenges unique to it. many think its easier then photo realistic rendering but in many ways its way harder.
keep working at it though! :)
if you've not seen it, the devs of "guilty gear" did a GDC talk on how they achieved an anime look in 3d. which i found very insightful. basic jist i took away "custom normals" are probably the most important thing to achieving that 2d look.
