This is a short film I made for a TAFE course a while back that after much consideration and a bit of question-asking in the forum decided to upload here, despite it not being an animation.
The intention behind the film was to make a parody that is 'funny' (or slightly amusing/entertaining at the very least) by not being outwardly funny but by contrasting the dark gritty tone of Crime Noir movies like Sin City 'to the max'. The best way I figured to create this contrast was through the medium of sock puppets.
I created everything in this film aside from the music, which is the work of Stroveus (find a link to his stuff at the bottom of this description), and aside from the resources the sets and character were made from, which I assume were created in some sweatshop god knows where. Voice work was me as well aside from a little line by a friend from the TAFE course.
Hope you all enjoy it, please don't crap all over it because it isn't an animation, that would hurt.

The framing isn't bad, but the camera is always so stiff and the zooms make it feel like we're watching a slideshow during some shots. They're sock puppets! Ask yourself why you chose to use sock puppets and how you can best utilize their advantages to plus your film. Make them move! Get a little goofy in the visual presentation and acting to starkly contrast the story and narration(it's a tight line to walk, but you can do it with quick cuts and close ups).

Honestly it's a little surprising that when someone finally does talk out loud on screen you decided to keep their mouth closed shut :/

Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep it in mind if I ever use a camera again haha, this project was my first (and since then, last) attempt at directing a live action film of any kind so it ended up a bit unrefined
