Game Complete 50 Points

Complete your adventure and escape the temple

Author Comments

A retro platformer. Upon discovering a hidden cave, you decide to investigate. After exploring a little, you soon realise that you must search the caverns for items to help you escape.

CONTROLS: Arrows (left, right, up) Up is Jump, and action (enter door, skip text etc.)

The save function saves the stage you're on, and NOT your progress in a level

It takes a short while to get up to speed while running, so if a jump seems a bit difficult, try taking a run up!

This project just started as an experiment for different things, the main one being a dynamically generated minimap. However, it developed into a full, if quite short, game.

I plan to create another game that's based on this one, taking all the goods things, and ditching the bad, so I'd really like to know your thoughts.

**SPOILERS BELOW**
I really don't want to give too much away, as the idea is to figure out what you need to do, which shouldn't be that difficult, but if you're really stuck: You need to collect crystals and take them to the correct pillar. Once all are unlocked, a door will appear. The door always appears nearby. It might not be on the screen when you enter the last crystal, but it won't be far away.

Other items, such as map pieces and torches will really make things easier.

**MORE SPOILERS**
If you really get stuck: Look for things that seem out of place. Everything might not be as it appears, so something that looks a little different (colour or texture) might be worth investigating.

tough jumps, i love difficult platformers. but i think you can exit doors without even activating them after the 3rd or so level (the one with the guns) i went in the middle and somehow warped to the next dungeon. i never really noticed anything buggy just that checkpoints shouldnt work like that, you should lose whatever you collected before the next checkpoint/boss health should go back to full etc. other than that i liked it and looking forward to playing the next lost temple.

How do I get past the gray level? the platforming is kinda hard...

JeffreyDriver responds:

Sorry, I'm not sure which level you mean.

There's a new game based on this one: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/710688

It's a lot better than this one!

Good, I liked the old school 4bit graphics and the hard platforming, I liked the appropriate amount of story the game and I enjoyed the small story itself. However I did not enjoy the constant repeat of the same couple notes every 5 seconds.

JeffreyDriver responds:

Yeah, other people have commented on the music. Obviously a bad choice. I'll fix it in the next update.

there's this one stupid game that i can't make no matter how much i run in the first level. other then that it's good.

Like JCLV wrote the game seems to be not saving progress at all. I already passed several areas, finished few levels (the water one, the fire one), but had to stop playing. I returned to the game and now I will have to start from the very beginning.

Is it an AUTOsave or do we have to do something to actually make the game save the progress?

JeffreyDriver responds:

Sorry for the trouble. There is an autosave and it saves every time you switch to a new scene. When you come back to the game, 'Continue?' should appear under the title. Clicking that should take you to the last scene you were on.

I haven't been able to replicate the problem, but I'm looking at it.
