Hoonters is a free turn-based RPG developed in Unity. A mixture of Monster Hunter, Classic JRPGs and loads of hentai. You take on the role of a Beast Hunter, exploring lands in search of monsters whose fluids contain special characteristics, making them valuable resources for creating medicine, commodities and several other things. Not all monsters appreciate being exploited like that, in fact, if you lose to them, they're likely to make you taste your own medicine! ...Quite literally, in this case.

This is a VERY EARLY alpha for the game. It is honestly just a little above a prototype. If you're interested in the project, however, do leave feedback! Any bugs or glitches you find and tell me, I'll get to fixing ASAP.

Keep in mind, Unity's WEBGL export option is still far from being perfect. I am constantly doing my best to try and optimize the build for HTML5, but there's only so much I can do. If you want a stable version, you can get an EXE over at our other mirrors on Patreon.

--FAQ--

Q: The Exit buttons in the Main Menu and on the Town don't work. Why?
A: Those are for the .EXE version. I'm currently working on something so that the game will recognize when it's on WEBGL or EXE and then activate/deactivate some of those options accordingly. It's still very buggy though, so I figured it'd be better to just leave it disabled, to be safe.

Q: The game won't load for me, I only get a gray screen! Why?
A: Oh boy. The Unity WEBGL application is either loading, or it was unable to pre-allocate enough memory to start up the game. Try closing any other tabs you have open and then hard refreshing this game. If all else fails and you want to play the game, the best suggestion I have is going after the .EXE through our patreon. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Q: My game stopped working, what do I do?
A: That...Well, that could be due to a bunch of reasons, really. First off, sorry for the inconvenience! Second, tell me where it stopped working, what you were doing and, if there are any, what messages the WEBGL application gave you when it stopped working and I'll look into it ASAP.

Q: Annabell won't let me go on a hunt?
A: You're definitely forgetting to pick something. Just be sure to go through all of the steps in the Expedition Menu, from the first to the very last. Area Selection -> Monster Selection -> Backpack Selection -> Equipment Selection
Be sure to click on every single one of the buttons, just to make sure! If they're filled out correctly, they should have a small check mark showing they are done.

Q: X is OP, they need to be nerfed!
A: Use items.

New Features

- Lynne will show up on Day 15. To unlock her scenes and conversations, unlock the restaurant and interact with her.
- Goblin Lumberjack Scenes reworked.
- Orc Amazon Scenes Reworked.
- New random event scenes have been sprinkled over the first in-game month.

!!WARNING:!!

The added content in this version has apparently been causing some memory issues for some computers, where the browser will not be able to allocate enough memory for the entire game and then crash. This seems to occur at a random point depending on each user's browser/in-game choices, I'm looking into a solution but, in the meantime, the best I can suggest to avoid this issue is to save often!

Update! I have considerably lowered the resolution of several sprites in the game in an attempt to solve the lack of memory issues, if it continues to occur, let me know and I'll see what else I can do.

good game but what the fuck does capturable mean and how the fuck do i capture something

Ive loved this game for a long time, and decided to replay it, and it looks like you still semi-actively respond. Is there an E.T.A for the next update? I'd love to see what you decide to do with this game

There's not really an ETA, I took a hiatus to dedicate myself to improving my art and working on other things (Commissions, my job, etc). I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things this coming month, but it's hard for me to give a proper time frame since there's a lot of older art in here that I'd like to review and only so much time for me to do it. The next update IS coming and once it comes out I'll go back to updating more regularly, but I can't really say for sure when. Joining our Discord server is probably the best way to keep up to date with how things are going, if you're interested.

This has a lot of potential.

So far I haven't had any problems while playing, though I did get confused by "Forest Boss", I eventually figured out that it is for the time being a placeholder of what is to come with further updates. Hilariously, I didn't find any memories issues, instead one of the adverts perished. Other than that... I was supposed to learn something from Lynne but that didn't happen, something that will be added later I suppose. A possible solution for the constant "???" could be either [Not Implemented Yet] or [Coming Soon]. Perhaps a more elaborate review of the alpha to show what you can and cannot do for perhaps a future beta or full-on version. Of course not to spoil everything but to give an idea of what is to come.
The potential in this game is one I'd like to support when fully released not because of the lewds, but because of the passion put into it. While I'm not familiar with your other works, this is one I'd definitely support in a heartbeat.
Keep going, there may have been a few errors here and there with some minor issues but it is to be expected.
And a few complaints:
I was annoyed by the random events, I was able to experience the one between Kassandra and Eric within 4 days... Perhaps it could be set on a specific number per month for consistency as they say it happens once a month or so.
The adreniline on some of the monsters are a bit too low or high for capture which I'm certain what the incenses were implemented for. It would be nice if there was some kind of notebook that could keep track of what adreneline levels are needed for capture as I was unable to see the rest of the text for the mini-menu when battling. Wasted a good bit of time or items losing or wasting away what could've been a solid capture.

Other than that, I cannot think of any bugs I encountered. There isn't much now but it is certainly worth keeping an eye on when something new comes later this year or the next. Whenever that may be I'll follow along and provide feedback where I can. Hope for the best in your endeavors.

Thank you so much! It's really heartwarming to read reviews like this. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it and are interested in the project.
My idea for the random events is that I'll make unique ones for the duration of the entire in-game year, since that's roughly how long I plan the game's full duration to be. Though I suppose in the Kassy and Eric one it would make sense if they happened again every so often.
The notebook idea is something I was already considering but as a separate building, manned by Lynne, which would provide extra information on monsters depending on how much you invest into it, I haven't gone too deep into it since I still have to fine tune the idea and I would like it to be more than just a "in-game wiki you have to put points into".

Hopefully I'll have more to show soon, thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

An excellent game even if i have a few complaints about bugs but since this is an alpha those are expected. BTW I am well aware that programming is a pain in the ass nevermind the art but i have to ask..... when's the next update im giving myself gray hairs waiting for it.

Like I mentioned in the previous review, I took a bit of a time out from working in the game proper to polish up my art skills and what not and also to look back on some older stuff in the game and possibly re-do/polish it up, both art and gameplay-wise.

Again, I can't provide an exact date yet, but my plan is that, once I've sorted through all this, the update will come out and then I'll go back to updating at a more steady pace. The easiest way to keep up to date with this is to follow the game's Discord server in the description, I also post all my WIPs of the new scenes and such in there, too!
