I was just browsing through Newgrounds, then I saw this. Never played the original, but why not? Then... I realized it's AdventureIslands. The creator of the addicting SDD that I play everytime on my phone. So, here we go!
It's really an interesting concept. The gameplay is fine and it utilizes the controls, but they are really slippery sometimes. The level design is great, just like SDD. The music is alright. And now to the nitpicky questions/requests:
1. Controls are too slippery. You gotta fix it.
2. Why everytime Duke goes into a new room, the timer restarts? Is it an anomaly in the time? One quick idea for a new game mode: Perma. Perma because of Permadeath. You start off with a timer, maybe like 3-4 minutes, and you have to complete all of the levels in a dungeon before the timer runs out. If it will run out, the player needs to restart the entire dungeon.
3. I would like to hear a bit more variety in sounds and music.
But that's pretty much it! It's a really decent game and I love it. Thank you.
Man... this game... it was absolutely awesome! (in my opinion). From level design to difficulty, I enjoyed every bit of the game. A fast paced game that won't dissapoint people who like these kind of games. I know I sound like I'm kissing your ass by saying that I loved almost everything within the game, but seriously, you did a amazing job.
A very simple and fun game! I kinda wish it started off harder, but it gets there, and it's worth the wait! Everything is great, and that music is mah jam.
Some very small nitpicks being that some movement functions could be a lot easier to control if when a fall starts, the player sits still in the air for a second, then falls with more acceleration than normal, allowing for easy control of consecutive airborne movements. Also, some of the sounds got a bit repetitive, both because they clashed a bit with the music and there could be more throughout.
These two points would make an already incredibly enjoyable experience even better! Great job!
Very enjoyable and fun to play! Really nothing else to say, great work.
