I really like the background art and the ship's art. The animation of the mermaid was good, but could be less stiff.
A mermaid struggles to seduce a boat of pirates.
This is the digital film I made during my year at Vancouver Film School. I always wondered how mermaids managed to climb on rocks so gracefully in movies. Maybe they just have excellent upper-body strength. Well, not this mermaid! Better luck next time.
Don't skip arm day, folks!

Thanks!
There's so much I wanted to do with this, but I only had a week to build the character, animate, make the background, make the ship, put in the effects, record the voices, do the sound-editing, make the credits, and comp everything. I don't think I have ever worked so fast in my life lol!
I actually didn't have a title for this the entire time I was making it - whereas I planned my other film's title during pre-production, because I had time to sit and think. Two minutes until the deadline, I was sitting there, staring into After Effects while thinking "Oh geez, this needs a title or else my teacher is going to kick my buns". I decided on the first thing that came into my head. Flop. Because "she flops, and this is going to be a major flop". To my surprise, everyone in the audience laughed - thanks to that beautiful one-liner my friend cooked up on the spot.
