I like it. Ran through the simulator on the mixed setting, and just used the basic shotgun to kill all the enemies that got close. The final boss was a bit cheesy, though - I had most of its armor down, but got too close once and was instantly killed by its multishot thing. Hitting the plates on the back seems to require a custom made weapon designed specifically for that boss, which can break the game for players who thought they could just build whatever weapons they think are fun.

CosmicAnemone responds:

Ah, yeah, that boss isn't the most balanced thing ever ^^

But you don't need to worry about hitting the plates on the back, since he turns around to face you(he always tries to have a weapon facing your direction, so if you destroy the ones in the front, he'll keep turning around).

You can win against him with whichever weapon layout, but it is true that you have to be fairly good at dodging to do so with low-damage ones.
Maybe I should put a boss health indicator somewhere on the next updates?
(although you can destroy his plates, to win against him you have to destroy the main body in the center. Destroying the plates just reduces his firepower(and allows you to hit the main body, of course). But I guess that isn't so clear without health indicators)

Edit:Version 1.0.2 has health indicators for bosses.

a good ship defence game
